Getting data from a linked table - simple newbie question

Newbie here!

I have a simple database recording details of help given to users of our Computer Buddy service.
I have already set up a linked table (‘Clients’) that I use to ensure that new entries in the main table (‘Computer Buddy’') only use existing entries, or create a new one.
The organisation I report to now requires their Age and Gender as well, and I have set up a column with single select values for Age of 18-34, 35-54, 55-64, 65-84 and 85+.
For Gender I am using a column with single select values of M and F.
I have added a column labelled ‘Sex lookup’ in table ‘Computer Buddy’ of type ‘Link to other records’, linking to table ‘Clients’ and displaying column ‘Sex’.
But this field remains blank.

Am I doing it right? How do I get the values from the Client table to appear in the Computer Buddy table?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome back to the SeaTable Forum!

I think the solution to your problem is simple: Rathan than a “Link to other records” column, you need a “Link formula” column of type lookup. Can you try that? (You cannot convert a link column to a link formula column. Delete the link column first and then add a new one.)

If this does not fix your problem, then I guess I misunderstand your issue. Could you post a screenshot of your base’s structure? (An image says more than 1000 words.) Ideally, you use the table relationship plugin.

OK, thanks. I will try it later today and let you know.

This worked as expected, and will save me a lot of time and effort. Very many thanks.
