Loving HTML Pages - quick question about two things that would make them even better

Hey team,

Just wanted to start by saying how much we love HTML Pages. Being able to build our own custom pages inside a base, that read and write real data, has honestly changed what we can build for our clients.

We’ve made a whole custom HR system this way (employee records, trainings, disciplinary tracking, hiring…) and it’s been a blast. So genuinely, thank you.

While building all this, we’ve bumped into two things we can’t quite do yet from a page, and we’re wondering if they’re planned.

  1. Changing links on a row that already exists
When a row has a link to another table (say, the people signed up for a training session), we can set that link when we first create the row. But once the row already exists, we haven’t found a way to add or remove someone from that link. The update function looks like it works (it doesn’t give an error), but the link just doesn’t change. Right now the only way around it is to delete the row and recreate a new one with the right people on it, which works but is clunky and a bit risky. Is there a simple way to add or remove one of these links on a row that’s already there? That would solve pretty much our biggest headache.

  2. Being able to trigger a button from the page
Some of our tables have a button that runs a script, or one that generates a document from a template. Right now, we can’t trigger that same button from a custom page, so we’ve had to build workarounds. Would it be possible one day to press that button from a page, the same way as clicking it directly on the table?

No pressure at all, just curious if either of these is somewhere on your radar.

Thanks again for HTML Pages, we’ll keep building with it either way!

Damien

Thanks for the feedbacks. Please find my reply below:

We will work on it soon.

Some button actions are not meaningful for direct use within an HTML page (like open a plugin). We plan to provide APIs that expose these actions, allowing you to call them directly from your HTML page to achieve the same effect.
