Limited number of columns in a table?

Describe the Problem/Error/Question:

Hello everyone!

We have a problem about limited number of column… I am trying to add new columns to a table and I can’t do anything, I only have en “quick” error message sayind that “ The number of columns used in the current database exceeds the limit."

So what is the limit number? - and is it at the “ base” or the “table” level?

Do you have solutions to add supplementary (space?) to be able to creat new columns…?

Hey TCF,
SeaTable allows up to 500 columns within a base. Does your base contains as much columns?
If yes, then I would recommend thinking about an optimization of your base.

I thank you very much for your answer!

Yes we have a base, composed of several tables. These tables have diferent number of columns. You are right, one of them, had 500 column.

However, one thing is strange, before your answer, I was not able to creat any type of new column in this “full” table, but I was able to duplicate one column and edit it…. so I used this solution in waiting to have the time to make an optimization/cleaning of the general dashboard it is true.

Let me summarize your issue:

Problem and answer

  • You would like to create a table with more than 500 columns.
  • => This is not possible. There is a limit of max. 500 columns per table.

Observation

  • it seems that “creating a 501 column” is prevented but
  • duplicating a column is still possbile
  • => we will look at this.
