Linking using dialogue pop-up doesn't link records

I have linked columns in table A, that I use to either link to new existing records in other tables, or to create new records. However, when using the dialogue box that pops up when using Add Record, and then clicking on submit, the information is not saved. If I try this to do this on a table without using the dialogue box it works fine when linking records or adding new records. Any ideas?
