i have a couple improvement ideas for the Page Designer feature. Firstly it is quite hard and takes a lot of time to move all your boxes in the right position. It is not clear what to do (double click, right mouse etc.). Sometimes the boxes move in the very left corner just before saving the document. Then, the box being automatly positioned in the alleged right position is annoying, because it does not move in the position i would like it to see, but it always “jumps” to this position anyway. Also direclty implementing given text options (not just one which works with the feature formatierter Text (=“formatted text”) quite well) is quite a hassle. We are only able to do so with the feature “einfachauswahl”(=single selection)". But, naturally, if the text option you would like to directly implement is very long, its hard to keep track what you actually want to implement and edit it. Also, the box size in the page designer is not adjusting to to size of the implemented text. So if the text options you would like to implement differ, you either have a space if it is too short or it gets cut off if its too long. Then you dont have the option to edit the text options with the single size (font size, “Blocksatz”, “absatz”, etc.) Our improvement suggestions would be to sort of merge the feature “single selection” with the features in “formated text”, where you are able to edit the text in a larger box. I am not sure I understand some of your complaints. Could you elaborate on the various points you raise in your post?
At this point just one general piece of advice: it sounds like you are using the Page Design plugin with Firefox. If you do, please use Chrome (or a Chrome-based browser). We don’t have the capacity to test extensively /optimize to the same degree the Page Design plugin for a browser with 10% (and waning) market share.
I am using the “Seitendesign” (“Page Design”) Plugin in Chrome, and I have similar problems. My biggest problem is that I do not manage the pages to be dynamic. To give you an example: I need to generate longer documents with long texts from different fields. Given I can not be sure how long the text of a single field is, I am unable to position the next field right below the field before, because I dont know how to adjust this “dynamically”. Do you understand my problem?
This is not supported in the Page Design plugin. In the Page Design plugin, elements are placed precisely on the document.
Have you tried the Report Design plugin? This plugin support floating elements.
