Quick editing in Single Record Page App View

Hi everyone,

I recently installed SeaTable on my own server and I have to say: I’m really impressed so far. I’m seriously considering moving a large part of my business workflows over to SeaTable because the structure, linked tables and app builder already solve a lot of things I was looking for.

However, I have a question regarding Apps and I’m wondering if I’m missing something.

My use case:

I work with clients and often collect information during live conversations. The information does not come in a fixed order (depending on how the client tells their story).

Because of that, a classic form is not ideal for me. A form feels too linear and is better suited for situations where the questions are answered in a fixed order.

The Single Record Page in Apps is actually almost perfect for my use case. I can display one client record beautifully, organize fields into containers, create a visually clean dashboard, and show exactly the information I need during the conversation.

The only issue is editing.

Whenever I want to change something, I have to click “Edit record” first. Then I’m taken back into a more general editing view where I see all fields that can be changed (again in one order). What I would really love is to click directly into a field on the Single Record Page and edit it inline, similar to how editing works when using the Table page type inside an App.

So my question is:

Is there any workaround for this?

Is there another App page type, dashboard setup, or configuration that I might be overlooking?

Thanks a lot in advance for any ideas or recommendations!

Hello Conny, welcome to the SeaTable Forum! I am delighted to hear that you are impressed. Let us try to convert your positive first impression into conviction.

Currently, the single record page only supports editing via the “Edit record” button. Unfortunately, there is no workaround or alternative solution.

In SeaTable 6.2, scheduled to be released this month, will add inline editing on the single record page. This means: You can modify your records directly in the custom format that you created on the page type. Click on the field and start editing.

Sounds good?

@rdb wow that are really great news!! I am really looking forward to this new feature! :star_struck:

Thanks for your quick response!

All the best,
Conny
