Hi folks – first-time user here, and very much enjoying the discovery process. But… while Long Text fields apparently allow you to create a “default value” (an option I thought was very exciting, given the rich-text content), in practice the default value does not appear when you enter a new record – you get a blank page instead.
This is a real shame – I had set up a fairly sophisticated input “form” which bypassed the need to create a whole bunch of separate fields (all highly individual to each record, so no point creating separate tables), but find I cannot use it. Any thoughts on this?
Hot dang! You’re right – although I tested the “failure” multiple times with an existing record, I failed to create a new record to test it after having created the default value. And sure enough, as soon as I create a new record, the default value shows up!
Still, I would just like to point out that the default value doesn’t appear when you’re editing an existing record – the field remains resolutely blank. Just sayin’!
But this is a seriously GREAT feature that makes SeaTable even more flexible!
