SeaTable Edition Cloud Plus (if necessary for Slack-Integration: Cloud Enterprise)
The Problem/Question:
There’s no integration for Slack!
It’s advertised (see screenshot - or Integrations ), but I can’t integrate with Slack, and when I emailed Seatable support, they told me that integration with Slack isn’t even on the roadmap.
Isn’t anyone really missing this yet?
Why/what I need it for:
I want to enter data in a Slack channel using a Slack form (from their workflow builder, because Slack is logically well integrated in terms of design and without media disruption) and send it to Seatable to create a new row or search for something in existing rows.
I’m a new Seatable user and also new to the forum. The support (sales representative) suggested I post my request regarding a desired Slack integration here in the forum – and depending on the number of supporters of this idea, the actual implementation becomes more likely.
It’s annoying for me, because Airtable has this integration with Slack, and I actually considered Seatable to be more suitable for me – but with this advertised (but missing) integration, I’m not so sure anymore.
I tried using Make, since Make can connect to Seatbale (verified) and Slack (verified), but nothing useful came out of it, or I just couldn’t manage it (my skills in Make: more than a beginner, but not yet advanced).
I am the sales representative that replied to your inquiry.
What I said is correct, but maybe I should have provided more context. Sorry for that.
SeaTable does not offer a native integration with SeaTable. Key word in the prior phrase is “native”. You will not find an option within SeaTable to setup an integration with Slack. (SeaTable does not offer native integrations for GitHub, Gmail, MailChimp, … either.)
But, and this is the aspect I should not have assumed as given, you can integrate SeaTable with all of the above mentioned third party solutions using an integration platform such as Zapier, Make, n8n. (There are more, but this are the most popular ones we support.) If you go to the integrations page that you refer to in your post, you’ll find a hint to these platforms right underneath the section that you screenshot.
Thank you very much for the feedback here in the forum, as well as for the excellent support (before my forum post) via email, @rdb. I’ve now managed the integration quite well with Make, so I’m increasingly able to use it the way I intended. The main problem was that I wanted to retrieve data via a webhook instead of adding the logical step called “get a row.” Now that the connection between Slack and SeaTable is satisfactory, I’ll be focusing more on SeaTable again.
The best thing to do is to gain experience - and I’m happy to come back to the forum if I run into any problems again.
