We’re thrilled to announce a brand-new version of ideas.seatable.com!
We wanted the board to be a nicer place to share your ideas, find them and follow them.
Here’s what’s new.
Finding things
- Filter by status (Open, Planned, Completed, Closed, Merged, or just your own ideas), with a
count next to each. - Search covers titles, descriptions and authors.
- Every view is a link. Filter, sort and search all end up in the address bar, so you can
bookmark a view or share it here on the forum. Clicking an author’s name shows all of their ideas.
Posting an idea
- The form now has its own page, and this is our favourite part: while you type, it suggests
existing ideas that look like yours. Click one to read it without losing your draft. If your
idea is already there, an upvote or a comment helps it more than a duplicate would. - Descriptions support Markdown: lists, links, bold, code.
- Each idea now shows when it was posted.
On a phone
The layout adapts to small screens, so browsing and voting should work comfortably from a phone.
Great for when inspiration strikes on the go!
Notifications
No more checking back to see what happened to your idea: you can now get a private message
here on the forum when one of your ideas is commented on, changes status, or reaches 1, 5, 10
or 25 votes. Whether that message also reaches you by email depends on your usual forum
notification settings.
If you have posted ideas before, notifications are off for you until you switch them on. We
didn’t want to start messaging people without asking. You can choose each type separately at
ideas.seatable.com/notifications. Members who post
their first idea from now on have them on by default.
Badges
Taking part in the board now earns you forum badges:
- Had an Idea, Idea Machine and Idea Factory, for 1, 5 and 10 ideas posted
- Upvote Officer, for 2 votes, and again for every 10 more
Everyone who has already taken part gets theirs today, so keep an eye on your notifications!
We hope you enjoy it, and we can’t wait to see what ideas you come up with next. Something
broken, confusing, or simply a suggestion to make the board even better? Tell us in this topic!
